Maintaining ordered lanes

Marathon delays crowding but does not remove it. Organisation still decides the late game.

Rules for this mode

  1. The board is wider than the standard arena.
  2. Walls and self-collision are active.
  3. The opening pace is calm.
  4. A normal red ball adds 1 point and 1 growth section.

Three useful decisions

  1. Build lanes across the long side of the board.
  2. Keep one recovery corridor open.
  3. Separate route mistakes from concentration mistakes.

Opening plan

Use the extra width to build a simple serpentine route. Keep one recovery corridor unused.

Common mistake

Spending the extra space without a repeatable route.

Use three runs for one change

Use the first run to learn the board. Repeat the same opening on the second run. On the third, change only the turn that caused the previous loss. This makes it easier to tell whether the problem was the route or the input.
