The run begins with a long body, so tail timing matters from the first turn.

Reading when the tail clears

Long Snake skips the forgiving opening and starts near the point where Classic becomes spatially difficult.

Rules for this mode

  1. The snake starts with ten body sections.
  2. Walls and self-collision are active.
  3. Each red ball adds 1 point and 1 growth section.
  4. The board and pace otherwise match the standard game.

Three useful decisions

  1. Wait for the tail to clear a corner before crossing.
  2. Avoid compact opening loops.
  3. Use the mode to rehearse late-game Classic decisions.

Opening plan

Move into broad parallel lanes and watch the last few body sections before crossing behind them.

Common mistake

Planning as though the snake were still short.

Use three runs for one change

Use the first run to learn the board. Repeat the same opening on the second run. On the third, change only the turn that caused the previous loss. This makes it easier to tell whether the problem was the route or the input.
